Design Finalised
After considerable iterations, the final design of the NTU Solar Car has been produced. Designed to be both optimally aerodynamic while at the same time with sufficient solar array area, work will now begin on the chassis.
Personally, I think that having the largest area of solar panels does not necessarilly harness the solar energy to its fullest. For example, for a given area, maximum solar power can be obtained only if the light shines normally onto it. Therefore, suitable tactics and strategies must be formulated, such as by considering the racing route, the locus of sun, wind speed and climate.
We are a group of final year BEng Mechanical Engineering Students who are currently building a solar powered racing car to enter in the World Solar Challenge 2007. This is a race from Darwin to Adelaide - a distance of 3000km to be completed in less than 10 days!
